Martnez played for Club Urquiza (Gualeguay, Entre Rios), Club Libertad (Gualeguay, Entre Rios), and Newell’s Old Boys as a teenager. In Newell’s final match of the 2016–17 season, he made his professional debut, playing the entire match in a loss to Godoy Cruz.

Martnez joined neighboring Argentine Primera División team Defensa y Justicia on loan in August 2017. On October 13, he made his first appearance for Defensa, losing to San Lorenzo.  He scored his first senior goal in an away win against Temperley two games later.
