Club Career
He began playing professionally in the First Capital Plus Premier League for Inter Allies. Aidoo was nominated for the domestic top tier’s Defender of the Year award in 2013–14 but ultimately didn’t win. Throughout the 2014–15 campaign, Aidoo served as the club captain.
Aidoo was acquired by Swedish team Hammarby IF on a six-month loan in August 2015. On October 25, 2015, he made his debut and sole appearance of the 2015 campaign against Malmö FF, the defending champions at the time. Aidoo put on a strong performance and was chosen as the Hammarby player of the game even though Hammarby lost the game 1-0.
He made a three-year permanent contract with Hammarby IF before the 2016 Allsvenskan season. On May 18, he played in the first half of his first league game of the year against Malmö FF before being replaced. Manager Nanne Bergstrand decided to switch the two central defenders midway through the season, allowing Aidoo and newly acquired David Boo Wiklander to establish themselves as regular starters. Out of the subsequent 11 games, Hammarby won an amazing seven while also maintaining a perfect record on the road for six straight games. On September 12, 2016, during a home game against Orebro SK that ended in a 1-1 tie, Aidoo scored his first goal in a game for Hammarby.
Hammarby only allowed five goals in Aidoo’s first six league games of the 2017 campaign. Due to his contributions, Aidoo was included in Goal magazine’s list of the top eleven African players in the world for April.
Aidoo finished his transfer to Genk in the Belgian First Division A on July 24, 2017. He committed to the team under a three-year deal that included an extension clause. According to reports, the transfer fee was fixed between €1.25 million and €2 million. On August 26, he made his team debut, entering as a late substitute in a 1-0 victory over Mechelen at home.
On October 22, when Genk defeated Anderlecht 1-0, Aidoo scored his first goal for the team and was chosen as the game’s “player of the match.” With Aidoo starting every game from September 23 through November 19, Genk went eight games without losing (five victories, three draws) in league play.
Aidoo signed a five-year deal with RC Celta de Vigo of the Spanish La Liga on July 11, 2019, for a rumored $8 million. The agreement included €380,000 for his old team Hammarby.
On August 24, 2019, in a 1-0 home victory over Valencia, he made his debut for the Galician club, starting and playing 90 minutes as a center-back.
